Moving On Up?

Johnny just said on the pre-game, rather matter-of-factly, that Jee-sus will start for Harrisburg today and then head on up to AAA Syracuse. Right on schedule it seems.

Five starts there and then? And then?

No, the Nats ticket office did not put me up to this. Honest. But get your tickets for that Cincinnati series in June right now. Don't wait until they make it official (though they don't have to worry about being overrun by Reds fans because there aren't any). Do it now.

If the Nats are smart, they'll say something along the lines of, "Well, it will either be here, here or here." I'm stupid enough to buy a ticket for every game that could be a possibility.

At my age, things to look forward to seem to be more and more infrequent. I can't think of much I've looked forward to more than Jee-SUS' major-league debut.

I will be there.

In your poll Pudge is my choice among the alternatives given. He and Zim are worthy candidates especially given their gaudy OPS.

But Hammer would be my vote if you'd included him: not only is he hitting the ball but he's been covering the ground in LF as well as I've seen it done by anybody under the curly W.

I thought about including him - he's been a little cool with the bat lately. The others I included all seem to be giving the Nats something they were either missing last year or weren't expecting. I include Guzman because he was playing damn near every day despite being benched and, at the time, hitting it well.
I haven't voted yet but will probably go with my man Clips.

If he gets 5 starts at AAA with a start every 5 days (weather permitting), and he debuts with the Nats vs. Cincy, wouldn't that put him on 8-10 days rest? Is that uncommon?

If you do the math, and count off every five days from his start yesterday, he will start on Sunday June 6th against the Reds. For him to line up for a start in either the Friday or Saturday Reds game they would need to seriously stretch him out sometime before then, by giving him 6 or 7 days rest several times or 8-10 days rest once or twice. I doubt they would do that. OTOH, if there is a rainout or an off day once or twice in May that affects him, that would push his possible first start to the Pirates series Tue-Th June 8-10.

I have the Friday Reds game in my plan already. I'll be buying a ticket to the Sunday Reds game soon, but will hold off on any others until the picture becomes more clear.

My brother/sister/spouses have a Sunday plan. Cool for them if he debuts that Sunday.
I will be in the park somewhere!
