Jeebus H. Criminy

I try not to cuss in headlines.

Not only is Estrada on the active roster, he is catching tonight.
Did Flores not make it back? Is HE hurt, too? I see no other explanation for him not being out there. There's been a bit of a break, no? You have a kid who leads the team in RBI despite not playing in more than 60 percent of the games. You have a team that is offensively challenged at best (and not very good on defense tonight). So you sit a guy who has at least shown he can hit some in the clutch?

I am baffled. One of the commenters on the Nationals Journal said he'd fake illness if he was a pitcher out there with that defense. I don't have to fake it.

The $6.25 million Dynamic Dud Duo is on the field tonight. I'm ill again.

Gotta be trade bait...

Well, let's start talking him up and hope someone is dumb enough.

I am just so glad Estrada is back. The season turns tonight. He is the greatest player ever in the history of the world!

Cathy said...

Maybe we'll get lucky and he'll throw a runner out at 2nd. Bonus if more than one!

"Johnny Estrada, moments after hitting a walk-off home run against the Braves last night actually became a Brave. The Nationals traded him straight up for Kelly Johnson."

Lord, I must be drunk.

That commenter sounds like an idiot.

You could put Estrada on waivers today, after stitching a $10 million bill in his underpants, and he'd still clear.

MikeHarris said...

So you don't think the Braves will give up Escobar for him?

I am guzzling the booze to get through this one. Just guzzling it.

Bob just said it was the "mythical" second half of the season. No, it isn't. They're playing it.

Cathy said...

Dude! What commenter? I see how you are. Hmpf! Was just trying to rationalize somehow :-)

MikeHarris said...

Not you, miss. The one on Nationals Journal. I think that's who he meant.

Cathy said...

You mean Johnson, right? Guzzling here too...

Cathy said...

Ohhhh gotchya!

Yeah... forgot to put the

to separate my thoughts.

Anyone got any bourbon???

If Redding's IP*2 < hits allowed, it's a miracle

We'll be so shit-faced there's no telling where this conversation will go. Maybe I'll be passed out by the time Estrada actually bats.

And I got a buck of that $10 million for his drawers. Maybe somebody will bite.

Ok, guess I should go read the NJ comments since I'm obviously suffering confusion now. Read Escobar as Estrada.. (going silent now!)

MikeHarris said...

Estrada ought to be on the same bus they put Escobar on this week, though I'd rather have Escobar playing than Estrada.

MikeHarris said...

And now Dmitri is scratched - and Estrada is up to fifth. Langerhans starting.
Hudson could own this team tonight. Lord, I need another bottle.

Chris Needham said...

Two grounders and two outs!

When you think of great switch hitters, does Frankie Frisch jump to mind?

I'm guessing Dmitri's high blood sugar is related to some sort of distilled grain.

MikeHarris said...

Perfecto. I'm calling it right now.

Cathy said...

I shouldn't be drinking. I'm on call...!

MikeHarris said...

While Don rails on and rips Redding, I'd rather blame Estrada for that pitch and keep with the evening's theme.

Sutton is correct, however. 0-2 on a guy like Lillibridge ought to be auto-damn-matic.

Cathy said...

Game tied (reset) and Lo Duca successfully steals!

MikeHarris said...

I'm amazed.

Nice shot of Estrada. He's freaking huge and not in a good way.

MikeHarris said...

Chris - he must have the $10 million stuffed in there in $1 bills. There's no way he's that damn big. He looked like Santa Claus jiggling back to the dugout.

I see everyone in here had to fun tonight. Hope you haven't drank yourself under the kitchen floor tonight Mike.

MikeHarris said...

Not drunk enough. I still remember last night's game - and still remember which member of the starting lineup did not contribute a hit.
That's OK, he makes up for his with his ar *** oh, wait. He doesn't.
Is it too early to start drinking again?

Someone should do the research and find out when the last time (if ever) an MLB team carried FOUR catchers on its roster.

God, what an embarrassment!
