Trivia Time

We had some time to kill on my most recent visit to the park, so the four in our group talked a little about the brief history of the Washington Nationals. It evolved into a trivia contest - a low-grade trivia contest for anyone who has followed the Nationals closely.

So to take your mind off this growing losing streak and the ugly starting pitching that has contribted to it, I thought I'd share some of the questions with you before I head north to take part in Bloggers Day Part II. Try to do it the "honest" way first, without looking up the answers. I'll post them later in the week.

*How many players have appeared in at least one game in each of the five seasons? Name them.

*Name the Nats All-Stars by season (I drew a blank on one and then kicked myself when I remembered the answer).

*Name the Nationals' Opening Day starters by year.

*How many in the Nationals' Opening Day starting lineup in 2005 are still on the club?

*Who was in that 2005 Opening Day starting lineup?

*This is one I'm not sure I can do - but can you name the starting rotation as it stood on Opening Day in each of the five seasons?

Too much work, but as I think it was Yogi Berra who said, you could look it up.

Didn't Guzman miss all of 2006?

Ryan Zimmerman has played every year of the team's tenure in D.C. though.

Livan was an all-star in 2005 as well.

Brian of NFA and I spent some time at Bloggers Day looking up the rotations - amazing when you look at it that the team has won as many games as it has.
Not sure right off the top of my head where they fit in, but Zach Day (at one point a No. 2 starter) and Ryan Drese fit in there somewhere.
I never saw Toma Okha pitch. Isn't he with the Indians now?

Hi Mike. Great idea and fun way to get a Monday started. I pulled out a pen and pad a paper and jotted down my answers before scrolling down to see the comments and looks like I got everything correct.

When you said Nationals Opening Day starters, did you mean the home opener? I clearly remember that Ramon Ortiz was the home opener starter against the Mets on 4/11/06 because I thought he looked like the "Cingular" cell phone symbol when he pitched! LOL. It is pretty funny and got great photos. But it was Livan that was opening day pitcher on the road vs. Mets.

You should do more of these. :)

Cheryl - thanks. As I think of more, I will indeed do more.
I meant THE Opening Day as opposed to home opener. Should make myself more clear.
Hard to believe DCab will be an answer to the home opener trivia questions of the future.

You're a real dolt if you don't realize that it's your blog and you can delete both those comments with no one being the wiser!

Huh? What?

Well, now one of the answers has changed since Livan is back. Two members of the 2005 Opening Day lineup are on the team.
