I'm baffled

Not only is Austin Kearns playing, he's batting fifth. I'd much rather see a struggling Dukes in this spot.
Yeah, he's a fine fellow and all that and I would LOVE to see him succeed. But isn't there a point where you just throw up your hands and realize it isn't going to happen.
Corey Patterson is batting sixth. Five Ks in his first 11 at bats! This is quite the lineup tonight. I'm surprised they didn't bring Alex Cintron back for an honorary start.
Hell, at least they're playing baseball. I had a big meeting this afternoon so it was nice of them to wait.

UPDATE - The man can play some defense. I'll give him that. I just wish he wasn't below the Mendoza line at the plate.

AK has got to go. Good arm or not, when three guys in front of you have had 5 hits and 2 walks, and you are 0 for 4 with 2 K's, it's time to go. If that's Dukes, we have at least 5 runs on the board, and I don't have to watch a 9th inning with my heart in my mouth.

They make you sweat it out but it's damn sure worth it when they hold on.
Knock me down with a feather if I thought they'd get 2-3 in New York.

After all the jokes and BS that Nats fans have had to listen to this season, this is so sweet. All the laughing, all the jokes can cease for a small time.
Because no team will hold that Yankee team to 7 runs in three games in that ridiculous ballpark. Zero. Not the Red Sox and there 10 million starters, not the Rays and there young studs, not anybody!
20 2/3 innings, 4 runs from Martis (22), Lannan (24) and Stammen (25) in that ballpark! This is not a joke, the Nats are a lot closer to being a winner because of those young pitchers and you've seen that the last 3 days!

George, I love you man. You know that. But let's not get carried away. It's two great games in a row. Enjoy that. But the team remains 18-46.
