That's what is being discussed on the pregame right now. For a prospect.
I'll take it.

Too good to be true...the Ken Rosenthal story from earlier today makes it sound like an almost done deal (i've got it linked up over at my place)...but the recent update on Nationals dot com, not so much. Some great quotes from Manny + Felipe in the Nats dot com piece though. Please Jimbo, don't screw this up...
We all know Bowden is going to ask for Matt Wieters.
And this is why probably half the GM's in baseball ignore his calls.
How about a guy like C/1B Brandon Snyder? 1st rounder out of Westfield HS in Centreville in 2005, just 21 years old. Other guys who come to mind: 1B/3B Scott Moore, P Bob McCrory, P Pedro Beato? Just thinking out loud here.
And having read the interesting discussion yesterday, I have to disagree with the negativity. Yes it stinks to see this team struggle. And yes Bowden has made some terrible signings. But the ownership has only been in place for 2 1/2 years and do I need to remind you the state this franchise was in when the Lerners came in. At some point that excuse is not valid, but we haven't reached it yet.
When/if this deal goes down, it'll be interesting to review what we get for Felipe now, versus what we gave up to get him and Kearns 2 years ago. With the way Bray, Thompson, and Harris are playing, it'll take quite a haul to even say that the FLop experience comes out as a wash. I'm not optimistic.
Indeed, Nationals Fan. The word "fleeced" was tossed around some when that trade was made but I think the long-term will show the fleecing wasn't done by the Nats but to them.
Add in the widespread perception that Bowden was trying to "stick it" to the other team by hiding injured players (Majewski and Thompson both), reinforcing Bowden's rep for dealing in bad faith, and the price of that supposedly great deal rises higher (google "kevin towers jim bowden idiot" if you don't know what I'm talking about). It isn't just the rep for high asking price that Sean refers to, though that's also part of it.
I can't prove it, but every time a story is written about how we came close but couldn't quite move a guy that SHOULD have made sense to trade (Cordero, Soriano, for instance) I worry that GMs' reluctance to deal with Bowden plays a part.
That 81-win team went 31-50 in the second half. The first half of 2005 was something of a minor miracle with luck, serendipidity, enthusiasm, good fundamentals coming together for three glorious months.

I love the ol' "they don't communicate" quotes.
Heading to your place now. Thanks.
Anybody know anything about the Orioles system? What kind of prospect can you reasonably expect for FLop?

This must be your favorite headline ever.

George, I see the point. BUT this team in such a state before the Lerners did manage to win 81 games in 2005.
Ancient history. When will we see 81 again?
And is FLop gone yet?

Here, here!
